What makes a racket control-oriented

• Round shape with a large, central sweet spot for forgiveness.
• Low (head-light) balance so the racket is easy to place and maneuver.
• A softer core (soft EVA or FOAM), which is more comfortable and easier to direct.
• A moderate weight — nothing so head-heavy that it swings you rather than the other way around.

You do give up some raw power, which you make up for with technique and timing. Most control players consider that a good trade.
